Suggest Treatment For Clogged Ears

Having a plugged ear issue. Dr prescribed prednisone 20mg tabs. Prescription is to take two tabs a day. I also take aspirin daily for TIA I had a few years ago. I am very cautious about meds. Took 1 tab the first day. Two tabs the second day. Experienced weight gain only after 2 days (3 lbs) and stomach cramping. Stopped the prednisone, but now my ear is feeling full again. Should I tough it out and continue with the prednisone or is there something else I could take that has less side effects?
