I ve had a headache for a week and a half. It started on my right side around and behind my eye and temple and sometimes makes my whole head hurt and down by my cheekbones. I ve tried all over the counter pain killers and muscle rubs. Saw my pcp and got Tylenol 3 and a ct ran. They said ct was normal. I ve been to a chiropractor and got an adjustment and acupuncture to see if it would help. It hasn t. I have an eye appointment next week. I m so scared this is something bad. I ve never had migraines in my life and refuse to think that s just what this is. I ve gotten light headed. Lost appetite and vision is dull since the headache has started. Should I be worried the ct was read wrong or that I could have something that it did not catch. I have two small children and these headaches have got to go. I can t function. I don t know what to do.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern. Your symptoms seem to be related to a temporal arteritis. The brain CT scan may result normal in cases of inflammation. Other diagnosis to consider would be primary headaches.
Coming to this point I would recommend performing a brain MRI and inflammation tests (complete blood count, PCR, sedimentation rate), to exclude possible inflammation.
If all these tests result normal, a primary headache should be considered and the possible options of preventive therapy (antidepressants, calcium channel blockers, antiepileptics).
