Suggest Treatment For Chronic Halitosis And Candida Symptoms

I have chronic halitosis and white tongue with reddish dots on it (image attached) for 8 years now. My dentist suggested me the main cause is some other medical condition. I also have sinus and suffer from post nasal drip all the time. I even considered Sinus Surgery but recently i came across a yeast called CANDIDA. I have most of the symtoms of Candida(As slated on internet). I have sinus, oral thrush, fatigue, constipation and skin rashes. Is it even real medical condition and how should I treat it. And which doctor to consult because I guess most of the doctors will treat symtoms rather than underlying cause.

Hello,

Candida is a fungal infection which is very common to occur in mouth. The white patch you have in mouth would be easily scrapped leaving a red surface beneath, which is a confirmed diagnosis of candida infection or you can go for laboratory testing of the scrapped white part. It can occur due to medications you might be taking like steroids, antibiotics or birth control pills; denture wearing; diabetes etc.

You should take antifungal medications for the treatment of it. I would advise you to take Fluconazole 150 mg (Fole) once a day for 10-15 days meaning, if it clears in 10 days, you can leave the next five days' medicines, otherwise take it for 15 days.

To prevent future recurrence, you should maintain good oral hygiene practices while avoiding too much use of mouthwash. Limit you sugar intake and visit your dentist every 6 months for regular check-ups.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you recover soon!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
