Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough Causing Intense Body Pain
Doctor. I have had a sever head cold for 4 days. Alot of nasal drainage that is mostly clear in color. The problem is now I have developed a nasty cough. I feel I have kept alot of the usual cold syptoms managed. My main concern is that every time I cough, I get horrible very painful shocks that run the entire lenght of my body. Both arm, the chest the length of my back. Both sides. Then down the front of my legs to the knees. The sensation has an after pain that lingers even after the coughing stop. I have noticed if I can get to a bed and lay flat. During a coughing episode. With a pillow pulled tight to my chest, it lessens the severity of the shocks. Would you Please tell me your concerns and any advice to get relief. Thank you. Sincerely, Sarah
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic cough causing intense body pain which could be due to upper respiratory tract infection, allergic bronchitis, chronic pulmonary disease and tuberculosis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get chest X-ray done. Go for blood and sputum test first and get it examined. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take steam inhalation as well. You should take cough expectorants. Take proper course of antibiotics. You should take combination of anti allergic and antihistamine medications for immediate relief , also take ibuprofen or acetaminophne for pain . Go for pulmonary function tests as well as access exact level of infection. Sip on warm water with one spoon of honey in it . Avoid cold drinks.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
