Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing chest discomfort/pain with irregular and HARD pounding heart beats for months. I am also now very aware of my pulse around the clock. I am 32 years old, have been smoking since I was 15 and I am a recent (like this week) non-smoker. I have had an echo, ekg and chest xray but all show nothing. This is beginning to disrupt my quality of life and am concerned something is being missed. Any ideas what could cause this?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely a palpitation from anxiety or from cigarette smoking. It can be due to a change of brand of cigarette or drinking more caffeinated drinks. In such case those should be stopped or reduced. In case of anxiety you can start doing breathing exercises and if not helping then you should be put on anxiolytics like escitalopram. If that also not helping then a small dose beta blocker like propranalol or metapralol will help you.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
