Suggest Treatment For Calf Pain For My Overweight Mother

my mother is overweight and sits alot with her legs up in a reclining chair. tonight she was complaining of calf pain. her legs look a bit swollen but not discolored just a little peeling or dryness of the shin area. is this something i should be concerned about. she is a train wreck with heart problems and diabetes. i just worry about her. any sugestions would be apreciated. thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The leg swelling seems to be due to heart failure problem in her. Try to control her heart problem with appropriate medicine. For the dryness you can apply moisturizer cream over that area. I suggest you investigate her with serum TSH estimation and serum protein estimation as well for further work up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
