Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In Tongue Along With Sore Throat

I take many medications and always am dry. I use Biotene. About five years ago, I began having burning in my tongue. My dentist prescribed an medication which helped until the last few months. Now I have burning tongue, mouth and lips. So many things make my mouth burn. About a week ago, I had a very sore throat, no temp. I had it for about three days. It went away and now it is back. Are they related or two separate condiitons? Is there anything I can do to stop the burning and now sore throat

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of burning sensation in tongue along with sore throat which seems to be mainly due to bacterial infection and poor oral hygiene leading to strep throat.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline rinses several times a day. these both are different conditions and burning tongue and mouth cavity is mainly due to dry mouth and stress. Avoid hot sharp and spicy food substances. You should take anti inflammatory medications such as levocetirizine. You should take artificial saliva substitutes. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order blood test or throat swab test to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe broad spectrum antibiotics like amoxicillin for at least two weeks .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
