Suggest Treatment For Burning Pain In Nose After Snorting Pain Medicine

I have been snorting pain meds for 5 years and when I haven't used for an hour or so, my nose has an intense burning pain. The only way to stop this pain is by using again. Also on the side that I typically snort the meds my teeth and gums hurt. Is there any otc or treatment I can use such as Vaseline to coat the inside of my nose and keep the pain away without using? Also will subutex allow me to Wein myself off opiates completely? I have no energy and cannot function but must change my life style as many things are in jeopardy by my addiction.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms snorting the pain medications which are opiates and are being used by you as a recreational drug has caused irritation in the lining of the nasal mucosa and irritation and inflammation is causing Pain..
Other cause of pain is a psychotic effect that is when the effect of the opoid weans off you starts getting restless and the pain is felt even in nose as the urge for snorting the drug increases..

Although Subutex may help you as it works by reducing opioid dependence but can be taken after proper consultation with an addiction medicine specialist..

You also need consultation with an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and treatment for irritation inside nose can be done after ruling out the cause..
As of now you can very much apply vaseline and can also do steam inhalations for soothing the nasal lining..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
