Hello I m john I have a problem I have three little bumps on my pelvic area well two but one of em is a lump when I burst it I see puss and blood i haven t had sex in over a month so I m wondering if I have herpes can you shine some light on this please. I don t experience any of the symptoms shown for herpes so can you help me
Hello and welcome to HCM, A lump which burst open to release blood and pus is suggestive of a bacterial infection. Herpes simplex infection is characterized by multiple fluid filled bumps which are itchy and painful. The lump described by you is likely to be a boil or folliculitis. Boil is skin infection and folliculitis is inflammation of the hair follicle. A clinical assessment of the lumps is required. If any pus is left behind, drainage of the pus may be required. A course of oral antibiotic may also be required depending on the extent of infection and inflammation.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
