Hi dear. I am your physician and I have vast experience in Ottorhinolaryngology helping Outpatient and Inpatient and Surgical cases. Well I know whats going on there inside your body.

That may be Bursitis(infection of one one of the parts of joint). The bump may also be an additionally formed bone spur. It may be lipoma. All is needed is a thorough look and examination of the 'bump'
For relief you may take anti-inflammatory drugs.
Your thumb needs a rest too. Try that. Give heat to the joint area. It soothens a lot.
Without examining, one can't definitely tell whats it. But i have given you possibilities.
Consult a general surgeon too please. Hope you get better soon.
