Suggest Treatment For Bronchitis

Hi Dr! My daughters spouse has bronchitis. I am supposed to pick my daughter up tomorrow for a 2 day getaway. I will not enter their home due to spouses bronchitis. However, I ll be returning afterwards to my mothers home who is 83 and recently had whipple surgery for pancreatic cancer. My daughter is not I ll, but her spouse is. Can I catch this if my daughter turns out to be a carrier and pass it on to my frail mom?? Thank you!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the spouse of your daughter has acute bronchitis it can be contagious. Acute bronchitis is mainly caused by viruses and most probably flu.

The probability that your daughter has it is high and it can be also spread to other people.

If he is suffering from chronic bronchitis or asthma then it is less likely to be contagious.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
