Hi, good afternoon, I did a endoscopy a polyp was found in my chest...I am really worried ...I am going for a consultation soon regarding the polyp....do you know what s going to happen regarding surgery...what should I expect..what question should I ask. Regards Rose
Hi Rose, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Generally, bronchial polyps are benign bronchial tumours and are associated with asthma and with inhaled corticosteroids. To know the nature of the polyp, weather it is cancerous or not, a biopsy needs to be taken from it and needs to be sent for histopathological examination. In case it is small and not causing obstruction to the airways, it can be left alone and followed-up regularly. If it large or increasing in size so as to cause airway obstruction, the polyp needs to be excised by endoscopy. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
