Suggest Treatment For Broken Skin Above The Knuckles
My husband who is 69 was hit by a baseball at the Naval Academy Saturday on the thumb. The ball was pitched at 90 miles per hour, so he did take quite a hit. The skin was broken just above the knuckle. Today the skin under the knuckle is black with a very small amount of deep purple. I am worried about gangrene. He does not feel hot or warm around the area, however there is swelling. I am trying to convince him to go to the ER.

Suggest Treatment For Broken Skin Above The Knuckles
Hello, Most probably it is due to skin contusion. As of now you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
