Suggest Treatment For Blocked Heart Arteries

My husband had an angioplasty with four stents placed in the LAD artery 3 weeks ago. He was found to have 6 blocked arteries 2 x 99 percent, 2 x 90 percent, 1 x 70 percent and 1 x 30 percent. The doctors were able to use one only as stated above. He also has Diabetes 2 and he is treated for Prostate cancer (9.2) contracted in 2002 with another injection of Lucrin. What is the best thing that can be done to keep his heart going for a while longer??? (Chris T. Perth Western Australia)

Hi,

The best way to manage blocked heart arteries depends on the severity of the blockages, the overall health of the patient, and other individual factors. Here are some general suggestions for managing blocked heart arteries:
* Lifestyle changes: Your husband should make lifestyle changes to reduce the risk factors for heart disease, such as quitting smoking, following a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and managing stress.
* Medications: Your husband should take medications prescribed by his doctor to manage his heart disease and other health conditions, such as diabetes and prostate cancer. These may include medications to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, prevent blood clots, and control blood sugar levels.
* Follow-up appointments: It's important to attend follow-up appointments with his cardiologist to monitor his heart health and adjust his treatment plan as needed.
* Additional procedures: Depending on the severity of his blockages, your husband may need additional procedures, such as bypass surgery or additional stent placements.
* Cardiac rehabilitation: Cardiac rehabilitation can help your husband improve his heart health and recover from his angioplasty. It typically involves exercise training, education, and counseling.

It's essential to work closely with your husband's healthcare team to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses his specific needs and goals. They can also guide how to manage his condition and maintain his heart health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
