Suggest Treatment For Black Toenail

My big toe is a hammer toe and the nail has been thick and discoloured for years. Someone stood on it and it is now black on on one side and I have fucidin H cream which my son got and wonder if this would help it or would I need a fungal nail treatment. thanks

Hi.
As per your case history you are having onychomycosis.
My treatment advice is -
1. Maintain good hygiene and trim nails regularly.
2. Apply a mild antifungal lotion like clotrimazole lotion twice daily on it.
3. Take an oral fluconazole 150mg once a week for 12 weeks.
4. Other treatment options are oral itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
