Suggest Treatment For Bartholin Cyst On Labia

Hi I was diagnosed with a bartholin cyst on my right labia this past June when I went for my yearly checkup. However I was told to try sitz bath and it will reduce the swelling and probably drain on its own. This is a first. Ive been reading up on treatments at home and still no results. I have a prescription of metronidazole from march. Do you think taking these will help. Even though its not infected or itching. Its just annoying knowing its there

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to Bartholini cyst. I suggest using warm compresses for local application. I also suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain and inflammation. If the symptoms continue you can start the cycle of Metronidazole to treat the infection.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
