Suggest Treatment For Attention Deficit Disorder

My son, 14 started tenex a week ago. He was diagnosed with ADD at that time. Not ADHD. He does have significant anxiety. While researching I have found that tenex is usually used in ADHD, no findings for ADD, but some use for anxiety. Today his anxiety is worse than ever. Do we continue tenex, as I know he hasn t reached a therapeutic level? Or should I be concerned and stop his tenex now?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. ADD (attention deficit disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder) both are same name of one disorder. In ADD mainly inattention symptoms are seen while in ADHD hyperactivity symptoms are also seen. Psychopathology of both disorders is same so is the treatment. Tenex is Guanfacine and the drug is an alpha agonist drug. The drug help to relieve anxiety and also results in improving inattention. So no need to worry about the drug. Continue to give him the drug as per prescription doses and this would help to reduce his symptoms. Wait for some time to see the effects of the drug.

No need to stop the Tenex the drug will help to reduce his symptoms.

Hope this helps you. Thanks. Take care
