Hi & Welcome.
You need to take uric acid lowering drugs along with certain lifestyle changes.
For the acute flare up of the disease, I would recommend non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like
Indomethacin or
Diclofenac or
Colchicine.
Once the acute attack of gout subsides, then you should take
Allopurinol or
Sulfinpyrazone which help in reducing the raised uric acid levels.
Since these are prescription based medications, hence you are required to consult your doctor.
Besides the medication, the following preventive measures are necessary:
1. Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages like beer
2. Avoid taking red meat, beans, pulses, sea foods like shrimps.
3. Eat home cooked food, increase the intake of fruits and vegetables.
4. Take plenty of oral fluids.
5. Try to loose your body weight if you are obese by doing regular exercise.
Hope the advice given above would be useful.
