Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I picked up a prescription from CVS Pharmacy and did not know what it was for or why it was prescribed to me. I had another RX and thought my Family Practitioner prescribed something i addition to a sleep aid. i was in a hurry but paid for both medications. When I got home I noticed that this was a RX from the doctor who did ankle surgery on me for trimalleolar fracture. I had not expected this RX. It was diclofenec. All the info on the internet says this is indicated for knee pain, which I do not have, and in some instances for shoulder pain, etc. I think my doctor sent this to me i error as he did not indicate he was going to call a RX in when I saw him on Wednesday last week. Will this help relieve pain in the ankle joint following plates and screws in the ankle joints (all three of them). That would explain it but he did not mention this to me at all.
Diclofenac sodium is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, which has actions like pain relief, inflammation control and fever reduction. It controls somatic pain in every part of the body and reduces swelling and redness. For any joint pain and post surgical pain it is a good drug. However, it should be taken for a short time as advised by the doctor. So if ankle pain is there that will be controlled.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
