Suggest Treatment For An Ingrown Toe Nail

I have an ingrown toe nail. I ve managed to soak it in hot water and remove enough of the toe nail and skin to get clear rip off for the in grown toe nail. But first time I tried, it was excruciating, I just can t take it. The question I want to ask is, can I take a string and cut the circulation off my toe so i can get to work on it? Or is this a really bad idea?

Hello,
Thanks for Writing to Health Care Magic and putting trust in us regarding your Health related query.
I am Dr. Saleha and I have read your message in detail, I understand your concern and will try to help you in this.
I am sorry to know about the problem you are having and the pain you are facing but will clearly ask you NOT to take the nail off by yourself, it has a proper method and proper instruments are required for that.

I would advise you to go to some medical facility to get this done, they will usually start by with cleaning your toe with antiseptic, then they will give you local anaesthesia by ring block , that is an injection in toe and you will stop feeling any pain.

Then the nail will be pulled with proper instrument following a proper method. If you do it by yourself you may damage it badly, it may bleed alot, it may get infected or it might not recover properly

You will also need repeated dressing, and antibiotic cover after the procedure will only a doctor can describe you and guide you well about

,so I will suggest you to visit a medical facility with availability of minor surgical procedure room.
Wish you health.

Regards.

Dr.Saleha Saeed.
