Suggest Treatment For An Infected Pilonidal Cyst

Hello, i have an infected pilonidal cyst(diagnosed by my doctor who has adviced me to take antibiotics) which has been swelling for the past one and a half day, i take pain killers every 4-5 hours because the pain is unbearable, i cant sit walk or lay down properly , mostly i can lay on my sides and front. The area is red and bruced and when i touch it i can feel my nerves being streched . My question is, does this mean the cyst is about to burst? And if so what should i do ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to infected pilonidal cyst.

For that you may require complete hemogram, discharge culture sensitivity and antibiotics after surgeon consultation.

You may require surgical intervention after surgeon consultation.

Maintain proper hygiene and do regular dressing.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen

Hope I have answered your query..
Let me know if I can assist you further.
