Suggest Treatment For Acute Sinusitis

I have had a sore throat with a cough for about a month. I was diagnosed with acute sinusitis and took a 10 day course of an antibiotic prescribed by the Dr in mid December. My sore throat and cough are still with me. I m getting concerned that something else is wrong beyond the initial sinusitis or is it normal?

Hi,

In case if you have post nasal drip then it can cause a cough and throat infection due to the infected mucous running down the throat.

So there is a possibility that the sinus infection has not yet resolved to lead to the lingering of symptoms.

So my suggestion is to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. A sinus X-ray can be done for confirmation. A course of antibiotics like Augmentin can be advised.

Along with it take cough expectorant like Mucinex. Do steam inhalations. Do warm saline gargles. Chew a vitamin c pellet daily. Drink plenty of water and preferably warm water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
