Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Loose Stool In An Elderly Person

My mom is 85 yrs old and was diagnosed with c diff. On vancomycin for two weeks still not feeling well. Found out she had a uti. Given antibiotic and another week of vancomycin. She just finished all the drugs yesterday and is still having abdominal pain and loose green stool. Dr said to stay on her senna. Should she take Metamucil to bulk up the stool. She used to take it daily before all of this.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, she may need oral vancomycin and metronidazole combination with such resistant C. diff.

For cramps, oral antispasmodic like drotaverine can be helpful.

Oral water and salts replacement should be ensured as well.
