Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Discomfort With Diarrhea

I have been having abdomen discomfort for about 3 days, the first day I was suffering from nausea, the second day I was suffering from diarrhea, the third days I was still having diarrhea but I took some pepto- bismol and now my diarrhea is black like tar.

Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).It seems that you are having acute infectious enteritis for which you require a course of antibiotics like ofloxacin 200mg twice a day for 2 days along with some pre and probiotic. Also keep your hydration level well by taking lots of fluids in your diet. Black colored diarrhoea can occur due to intake of pepto-bismol. It is a very common side effect of this medicine. So if you are not improving with that take above mentioned. This black discoloration will resolve spontaneously in few days.
