Suggest Treatment For A Red Patch On The Scalp

I have a patch that is moving on my scalp. It doesn t itch, but when I find it, there is a red crust and once scratched, it begins to ooze a sticky fluid. I just moved from WI to CA and wondered if it is environmental since it began once I moved. I had it once and it went away so I dismissed it as having my hair back too tight. Now it is back in a different spot. Please help. Thank you

Dermatologist 's  Response
The possible diagnosis of the condition on the basis of the description is Seborrheic dermatitis which is also commonly known as dandruff. The other possibility is that of scalp psoriasis. Both the conditions respond to some extent to ketoconazole shampoos. Topical steroid shampoos containing fluocinolone may also be used.Regards.
