Suggest Treatment For A Recurring Raised Welt On Leg

My son had a raised welt on his leg last night that itched (about the size of a quarter). Put cortisone cream on and it was better by bedtime (welt was gone). This morning (11:30am) he said it itched again and the welt had returned, but larger this time. I put on more cream and gave oral antihistamine. Is there anything else I can do, and/or is this more serious than just home care?

Dermatologist 's  Response
hi,
thank you for putting up your query on HCM.
as per your history, your son may have insect bite which will take around 3-5 days to subside.
my treatment advise would be:
1. you may give him tab levocetrizine once a day at night time.
2. you may continue using cortisone cream twice a day over the lesion.
3. also, you may apply calamine lotion at in the morning for soothing effect.
if persistent after 5 days, do consult a dermatologist nearby.
wishing you good health.
thank you.
