I had rotator cuff surgery in May of 2015. I was healing SO good. No pain, good range of motion & fleibikity., how ever 7 months after the surgery I was assaulted ay my work. Now I am n excruciating pain again. New MRI reveals a re-tear. I am 67 years old. Very active . What would u suggest? P/T and Iburprofen or surgery again. My pain is 24/7 again. I lost last seaso of golf & pickleball. Should I wait? Should I not have surgery/have it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for your query.
A confirmed retear with severe pain is indicative for immediate intervention.

Unless otherwise indicated, surgery would be the best option. Faster healing, better range of motion and quicker pain relief.
I recommend you visit your orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible for timely intervention.
Delaying it too long could cause scarring and interfere with surgery and healing.

Hope this helps.
Wish you good health. feel free to get back to us if you have any more questions.
