Suggest Treatment For A Painful Swollen Lump On The Earlobe

Hi there,
For the third day now I have a large swelling under my earlope behind my jaw. It tightens up and gets larger and harder when I chew. I have been having some neck and upper back tension lately and thought it just might be muscle, it is tender to the touch. Not sure if it was a swollen gland or not.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a swollen lump under the ear lobe behind the jaw that gets more tense and hard after eating seems to be a Swollen Submandibular Salivary Gland which can be secondary to obstruction in the duct of the salivary gland caused either due to foreign body or formation of crystalline stones in the duct of the gland from minerals present in saliva..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can advise you to get an MRI of the salivary gland or a cross sectional x ray to rule out the exact cause and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case of obstruction in the duct removal has to be done either manually if it is superficial or surgically if it is deep..
