Suggest Treatment For A Painful Bump On The Lower Leg

I have a bump on my lower left leg (3 inches above my ankle). It was tender to the touch last week, but today it is not so tender, but the bump is still there (probably a dime in shape). I ve only noticed it within the last couple of weeks. Should I see my primary care physician about this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Bumps above the ankle area, especially if they are over the shin can be subcutaneous nodules and it is best to have it checked with your doctor.

The nodule itself is not a source of concern but it may indicate the presence of other important conditions such as infections or autoimmune disease and the doctor will need to do a thorough examination to make sure all is well.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

I wish you good health.

Regards,
