Suggest Treatment For A Lump On The Back Of The Head
My daughter is 16 and complaining of a lump on the back of her head. I have checked her scalp and see no signs of an infected hair or pimple. I do feel a lump that is slightly soft and movable... It hurts to touch it and when she lies down on it. She noticed it about 4 days ago . She says it feels about the same size, maybe wider. She says the pain is not just in her scalp but gives her a slight headache. What could this be? How long do I wait before I get it checked?
I can understand your concern. There could be many reasons for the presence of lump on the scalp. It is difficult to advise anything regarding it before having a physical examination of the lump. There is a possibility that it is present since birth and have been noticed now.
I would advise you that there is no need to wait for check up as you can already feel the lump and can take an appointment of the physician for the examination. Your daughter might have to go for blood tests, x-ray, CT Scan and probably MRI to reach a specific diagnosis and deciding on the managent.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your daughter feels painfree soon!
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
