Suggest Treatment For A Circular Bruise On The Right Bicep

A circular bruise appeared on my right bicep about one week ago. It has grown to about the size of a quarter and has gotten darker. A bruise appeared today on my left bicep in the same exact area as my right bicep. It is the same circular size and color that the bruise on my right arm started out as. neither bruises hurt to the touch. I do not recall do anything to either arm that would have caused these bruises. Should I be concerned. I am a 53 year old male.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You have a typical history of bruises of the size of a quarter on both biceps without any known trauma or so.
I would advise you the following in such a situation to get the cause.
First of all, remember of sitting in a chair or sofa that has similar diameter as that of a bruise, many a times we do sit relaxed and the trauma is caused by the pressure over such tubular structures causing the bruise.
Any history of taking medicines like Aspirin.
Any such sots of varying sizes to be searched all over the body including back by family members.
Consult your Doctor to discuss these points so that an appropriate further investigations of blood for bleeding and coagulation profile can be done to give you a proper diagnosis and thus allowing a proper management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
