Suggest Treatment For GERD And Psoriasis

my son is 24 yrs old now, but started experiencing symptoms when he was around 8 yrs old that became more frequent. Although now have tapered off, the symptoms still occur much more often than the usual person. He will become extremely fatigued, have a low-grade fever--101F, and be down for a good week or so. He also had swollen glands for years. He has excema (sp?) or psoriasis (sp?). Now, he is told he either has GERD, or a food allergy--he has severe stomach aches and has been given Prilosec. This is not helping, however. We have been to specialists of every kind, with the exception of an Immunologist. He even had his glands in his neck biopsied for Lymphoma. Can you offer any type of suggestion to whom he should see next? Ahhhh. Of course! you want payment. How silly of me to think I could receive any type of advice without sending money! Nevermind. I have insurance. We will continue to explore locally.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, for stomach symptoms temporarily antacids like Omeprazole can be started with motility agents like Domperidone or Itopride. However, cause workup should be initiated alongside.

A gastroenterologist review may be needed and if needed endoscopy may also be helpful. However, fever with rash and swollen glands needs to work up for glandular fever or other infective or autoimmune conditions.

Baseline blood tests like blood counts, renal or liver functions etc., can be of help. ESR and other markers of inflammation, as well as baseline autoimmune work up, can also help.

Lymph node excision biopsy can be asked if fine needle aspiration biopsy doesn't resolve any results. It's good that reports were clear of lymphoma so an infectious disease specialist can be consulted. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen can be used for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
