Suggest Treatment For BP With A Level Of 160/100

Hi first time chek my Bp by doctor then found 150/90 then prescribed ..Metoprolol -25 mg XR.my bp is normal . after somtime another Doc.chek then 160/100 then he recmend telmisartan 40.after som time another sugest amlodipine 2.5.at time i take telmisartan-40+amlodipine-2.5 my bp is normal.please sugges me how to go corret madication

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
The goal BP is The second drug telmisartan is an ARB.
The clinician continues to assess BP and adjust the treatment regimen until goal BP is reached.
If goal BP cannot be reached with 2 drugs, a third drug from the list is added and titrated.
The third drug amlodipine is a CCB.
Since your BP is now normal with three drugs,you need only periodic follow -up.
Combining drugs enhances BP lowering effect & permits low doses of individual drugs and hence likely to produce lesser side-effects. In 60-70 % of patients, goal BP will be achieved with two or more agents only.
