Suggest The Tests Required For Diagnosis Of Pain In The Pelvic Region

I m CONCERNED ABOUT MY DAUGHTER SHE IS 23 AND HAS BEEN HAVING SHARP PAINS IN HER PELVIC/ABDOMINAL REGION FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THESE PAINS HAPPEN ON HER LEFT SIDE. THEY HAPPEN AT DIFFERENT TIMES THROUGHOUT HER MENSTRUAL CYCLE. THE PAIN FEELS LIKE A SHARP TABBING PAIN AND TAKES HER BREATH AWAY. SHE WAS WORKED UP AND FOUND TO HAVE GERD. THOUGH THE MEDS HELP WITH THE HEARTBURN THEY DON T EFFECT THE OTHER PAIN. SHE IS ALWAYS EXHAUSTED, OFTEN THROWS UP AND IS ON ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES TO REGULATE HER CYCLE. SHE HAS HAD AN ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND AND THEY FOUND NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY.. .SHE HAD A PELVIC ULTRASOUND AND THEY COULD NOT FIND HER OVARIES THEY REPEATED THE ULTRASOUND BOTH EXTERNAL AND VAGINAL AND SAID THINGS WERE NORMAL WE HAVE A STRONG FAMILY HISTORY OF CANCER; BREAST, LUNG, PANCREATIC, LIVER, THYROID, KIDNEY, AND LARYNGEAL I THINK THE DOCTORS ARE BLOWING HER OFF BY NOT DOING ANY FURTHER TESTING. i AM WORRIED THAT THEY ARE MISSING SOMETHING AND AM AFRAID THAT SOMETHING SERIOUS IS GOING ON.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I will suggest you to work up for any renal stones stuck down in to the junction of urethra and bladder and for mild urinary infection that may bother her by doing a simple urine routine examination and an X-Ray KUB other possibilities are that there may be neurological or nerve impaction pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Faisal Bacha, Internal Medicine Specialist
