Suggest Safe Method For Pregnancy Termination In Early Stage
dear doc i m 5 weeks pregnant,i took 1 mtp kit of cipla in that case initially i took 1 tab of mifepristone n after 48 hours i took 2 tablets of misoprostol but instead of heavy bleeding it was just a few of drops of blood with lot of pain,no cramps or any tissue is coming out wat shud i do???

Hallow Dear,
You are on right line of treatment. WHO recommends Tab. Mifepristone followed after 24-48 hours by Tab. Misoprostol. Usually the abortion takes place within 24 hours; however, delay up to 7 days is noted.
These medicines have to be taken by Obstetrician's advice and prescription in prescribed dosage only.
You had lot of pain and just a little spotting, meaning thereby that the uterus is trying to expel the baby out but has failed. Now if all the pains have stopped and still no tissue has been expelled, we can infer that the medicines have failed.
So you have two options:
1. Repeat Mifepristone + Misoprostol regime once more. If it also fails then or alternatively;
2. Opt for surgical evacuation of uterine cavity by MVA aspiration.
These medicines cause developmental abnormalities in the baby. Hence, on failure of theses medicines to abort the pregnancy, decision should not be reverted to continuation of pregnancy; such pregnancy should be terminated by surgical evacuation of the uterus.
