Suggest Remedy For Throat Pain While Swallowing

Hi doctor, I am 40 yrs old, having pain in throat while swallowing water, food even sputum. Don t have fever , no cough or cold. I don t take cold water for drinking. I don t use alcohol and don t smoke. Throat is also clear while checking inside with torch. But i feel deep pain in throat. Is it due to acid reflux? Kindly tell me the cause and advice the medicine. I took azithromycin 500mg on my own.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have throat pain while swallowing. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sore throat which could be bacterial or viral infection, tonsillitis , viral pharyngitis and acid reflux. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and examination with laryngoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin or penicillin ) along with anti inflammatory and drug like sucralfate for healing of throat lining . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist if he/she find problem to be related with acid reflux. You should avoid spicy , acidic and heavy food specially at night , eat at least one hour before going to bed and do warm saline gargles thrice a day
