Suggest Remedy For Swollen Red Bumps On Hands After Insect Bite

Hi, I live in Montana and I was camping this weekend. I was bitten by something....almost certain it was not a mosqeto because i was bitten on my left arm a few inches down from my wrist and in a matter of minutes on my arm within close proximity to the bite it got very swollen and later that night it was not only swollen but i had a shooting pain from the bite then up and down my arm to my finger tips as well. I took some Advil the pain and a little bit of swelling got better. A few days later I can look at the bit and it almost looks like 2 side by side red bumps together... almost like where a set of the spider s fangs went in. Any ideas on what it could be or does my assumption sounds accurate?

Hi,

Well, it looks like a bite from any poisonous insect that has lead to a localized allergic reaction from the sting. As the symptoms are improving now, you need not to worry as it will get better. But to be on a safer side you can have a close look at the bite to confirm that the stinger embedded into the skin or not.

You can apply Hydrocortione ointment over the bite area and do ice packs to reduce redness and itching. If it itches a lot you can take Levocetrizine or Benadryl orally. Avoid scratching the area vigorously if it itches to avoid lacerating the skin and infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
