Hello....
Hashimoto Thyroiditis is a autoimmune disorder. It presents as Hyperthyroidism symptoms called Thyrotoxicosis that causes weight loss. Its treatment is Thyroidectomy if there is a toxic nodule on radionuclide scanning.
Afrer Thyroidectomy we keep the patient on Hormonal replacement therapy as Levothyroxin because of deficiency of Thyroid hormone.
But after taking certain times, we should monitor the Thyroid level that is. Free T4 and TSH. Beacuse sometimes the Thyroxin level goes high in blood after replacement therapy and that may cause significant weight gain.
So my advise is to go for test of Free T4 and TSH and titrate your doses. Meanwhile you continue on calorie restriction with some aerobic exercise to burn the extra calories.
