Suggest Remedy For Stuck Spring In The Throat

Earlier today I accidentally swallowed a, sort of spring, it was the piece of metal found in a clothing peg. I am starting to get concerned because it is stuck in my throat and although it is not causing me pain I can feel it. I have tried drinking and eating but it won t move, would making myself sick help? I m not sure what to do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
With the history of swallowing a spring, simply get X-rays of the neck in two views and of the chest and abdomen to see the position of the spring.
Once the site is confirmed - if it is in the pharynx, this can be removed it can be easily removed under topical anesthesia. IF in the esophagus or stomach it still can be removed by an upper GI Endoscopy.
If it is in the intestines , this will pass into the stool within a few days. So no worry; the mucus of the intestines engulfs such FB in a thick mucus..
So first of all cool down, this is not a serious problem, consult an ENT or General Surgeon.
