Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a da Vinci hysterectomy 6 weeks ago and had a follow up surgery to correct tearing a week after the initial surgery. I am in constant pain and my stomach is swollen and I have violent stomach cramps when I try to eat anything. I also feel like my insides are falling out. My Dr. says to continue complete bed rest for 2 more weeks. I am miserable, Any suggestions.

Doctor advised to take rest for 2 more weeks. Wants suggestion. The severe cramps on eating anything indicate a possibility of intestinal obstruction. I would advise you the following:
1. X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to see if there is any gas-fluid level indicative of an intestinal obstruction.
2. CT scan would further confirm and if required and if the conservative management fails you may need a third surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
