Suggest Remedy For Spotting When On Sprintec

I ve been on the birth control pill Sprintec for nine months. The past two months I ve had spotting right in the middle of taking my active pills, but only a tiny bit and usually only once. I ve been getting my period as normal. Now, this month, I ve been spotting a bit of sticky brown (so I assume old blood) discharge for three days (days 17-19 of my active pills). Should I be concerned? I m due to start my week of placebo pills on Sunday. This spotting is a real nuisance, and I m a little worried since I didn t spot the first six months on the birth control pill, so what gives?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

The mild spotting while taking pills regularly can be due to a breakthrough bleeding. This is not worrisome. It usually stops on its own.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal,
OBGYN
