well for quiet a while i have had spams and pain either under or at the botton of the right rib . i take hydrocodone for my back and 6 months ago my dr. changed my med from 10/700 to 10/325 thinking it might be liver associated. however still chronic pain and often spams. i have no idea what is happening .. no pain on left side or ribs
Pain just under the rib case is either because of musculoskeletal causes or visceral causes. Since it is associated with spams diagnosis goes more in favour of musculoskeletal causes. Lower ribs is the point for insertion of abdominal muscles and an injury is highly likely.
All you need to do is warm saline fomentation twice or thrice a day, along with preventing any movement that causes pain. You can also take over the counter painkillers for 4-5 days. If these proves to be effective then fine otherwise you need to get a USG abdomen along with a chest X-ray to rule out other causes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
