Suggest Remedy For Sore Throat And Sinus Congestion

Hi, I apologize beforehand because this is kind of gross. I ve had a sore throat for a few days as well as sinus congestion. A trip to the doctor revealed no inflammation or visible causes of my discomfort and I was prescribed fluticasone propionate and amoxicillin. Last night, I was blowing my nose as per the instructions on my nasal spray and blew out a rather large lump/wad of what appeared to be mucus and blood from one side of my nose, roughly the size of a nickel in diameter and earlier this morning I blew another one out from the other side that was only slightly smaller. Immediately, my throat was no longer sore and I began to feel better. It was a little surprising to see and I d really like a little more information on what exactly it was. Thank you in advance and sorry for the length of my post.

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Blowing hard could damage already congested mucosa and lead to bleeding. So, avoid blowing hard. Nothing to worry, you will be fine.
I recommend the following.
1) Continue and finish the antibiotic course.
2) Analgesics like tablet paracetamol for pain relief.
3) Antihistaminics like tablet levocetrizine with phenylephrine for sinus congestion.
3) Salt water gargling.
4) Steam inhalation. It will improve sinus drainage and promote sinus ventilation and relieve congestion.
5) fluticasone propionate nasal spray i usually advice in allergic rhinitis. This is characterized by excessive sneezing, nasal congestion, itching, watering of eyes.

You will be fine.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help you.

Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.

Regards,
