Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain Occurring Post A Lumpectomy
I had a lumpectomy on 8th of May. One lymph gland was removed and found to be clear. After 10 days I developed cording and the pain was severe. I have since had physiotherapy and the pain is now bearable. Since then I now have a red area on the left side around the. Nipple and above. The lump was removed from the underside on the right side. I have taken Clarithrmycinfin for four days. There is no improvement thus far. I start radiotherapy tomorrow. Should I be having this treatment while this tender red area is still there? My email address is YYYY@YYYY
Pain right after surgery is usually due to injury to the skin or muscles. It may be treated with mild pain relievers such as ibuprofen (such as Advil or Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Although you can get these medications without a prescription, check with your provider before taking them as they may interfere with chemotherapy or other treatment. There may be other medical reasons you should not take them.
For more severe pain, your provider may prescribe opioids (such as hydrocodone or oxycodone).

Hi Pain right after surgery is usually due to injury to the skin or muscles. There are many non-drug methods of easing pain. These include physical therapy, acupuncture, relaxation techniques, massage therapy, hot and cold therapy, yoga and guided imagery.
