Hi,

The nodules on your knee may be bursitis of knee cap. It is an inflammation of the bursa between knee cap and overlying skin. It is usually due to kneeling for a long time resulting into an egg shaped bump on the front of knee cap. This bursitis usually goes by itself with stoppage of activity, which had caused it.

Similarly transient bumps on the thigh can be due to multiple reasons like infection, inflammation or trauma. However, first line of treatment is stoppage of activity of the affected limb as well as at the knee joint and taking some OTC analgesic or anti- inflammatory like ibuprofen, Diclofenac or Acetaminophen etc. If it does not start working within 72 hours, then you are advised to see a doctor, who may prescribe you some antibiotic or some steroids for some infection or inflammation respectively, if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
