Suggest Remedy For Red, Swollen, Itchy Area Post A Bug Bite

I got a bug bite yesterday after working in the yard. I raked leaves and mowed, edged and weed eated the yard. There was not any high grass. I have a little red dot surrounded by a light red area. Now in that area I have about a 5 inch swollen area but it is not red. The area just started itching. I hadn't noticed that it didn't go away until now. What should I do?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

Most bites and stings will heal on their own without a visit to a doctor. There are several things you can do to relieve pain and swelling and prevent infection from a bite or sting.
1.Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours. When not using ice, keep a cool, wet cloth on the bite or sting for up to 6 hours. Always keep a cloth between your skin and the ice pack. Do not apply ice for longer than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
2.Elevate the area of the bite or sting to decrease swelling.
3.An antihistamine taken by mouth, such as Benadryl or cetrizine, may help relieve itching, redness, and swelling. You can also take anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen/ acetaminophen to reduce pain.

If swelling persist after 2-3 days visit nearby doctor

Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved.

Hi welcome to HCM
Dear ,with some "bugs like mosquitoes, ticks, flies, the bites themselves are not the problem, but the infectious agents transmitted by the bite , like bacteria, viruses, and parasites that cause diseases , are the real problem.
The bite or sting causes more than the common irritating symptoms and is cause of concern .
If stinger is lodged in the skin, remove it by pulling, brushing or scraping it out of the skin .
Apply ice pack on infected area . Aplying Paste made of baking soda will remove irritation .
Honey can also give relief in pain and inflammatin .
Homeopathic Canthrice 30 a dose or 2 and application , gives instant relief .
Keep away from the situation to avoid further bites or stings.
Hope this helps . All the best
