My father broke out in a rash last week. Began on his arms and has spread to back and chest. Very itchy. Not scaly At all. Little bumps all over. They don't know what it is. They told us not scabies and not chicken pox. He is being isolated but they do t know what it is. Any suggestions ?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....
As per your complain symptoms of rashes and small bumps seems consistent with symptoms of Allergic Contact Dermatitis and can occur due to allergic reaction.. Common allergens that can cause the symptoms are poison ivy, certain detergents and washing powders, skin cosmetics, leather, latex, certain foods and medications.. I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation along with allergic testing to rule out the exact cause of the reaction and treatment can be planned accordingly.. As of now you can give him anti-allergics like Benadryl or Allegra, apply a steroid ointment over the bumps and also do cool compresses for relief..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
