Suggest Remedy For Plugged Ears

Hi Doctor. For a few days now on and off both of my ears have been blocked... it usually eases off, and I use olive oil to loosen it up with seemed to help. But now I used buds too, and I can hardly hear anything from both eyes - or at least extremely muffled, and they hurt too... not crazy pain, but sensitive to touch etc. What do you recommend I do??

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
The most common causes of plugged ears are:
1.Ear Wax
2.Blocked nose by Cold& & Sinus infection
3.Accumulation of water within the ear
4.Changes in atmospheric pressure while travelling in an airplane
5.Blockage in the Eustachian tubes

Following remedies can be tried:-
1. Valsalva Maneuver:-Take a deep breath and pinch your nose. Now, try to exhale like you are trying to breathe out. This will unclog your ears. This is the easiest and a good plugged ear treatment, Don’t blow too hard; otherwise, it may cause damage to the ear drum.
2. Nasal Spray-If the reason of plugged ears is sinus blockage, you can go for a nasal spray. This will clear the sinuses, thereby unclogging the plugged ears.
3. Salt Water Gargle-Mix 1 tsp of salt with warm water in a glass. Gargle for roughly 15-20 seconds and spit out. You can repeat this as needed for relief.
4. Wax Softening Solution or wax dissolving solutions- don't use them if you have infection

Visit a ENT specialist, if problem persist
