Suggest Remedy For Painful Tibia Fracture With Torn Meniscus

Hi I was hit in the back of my knee by a large fast dog. I have a non displaced tibia fracture, partially torn ACL and meniscus . No surgery needed. It s been 8 weeks I m off crutches and back to work, I am still swollen every day and in real pain if I put full support on that leg, feels like it will snap !! How long can I expect to feel like this ? I am so athletic and gained weight as I m limited to my workouts. I just want to heal fast!! Any advice is helpful . Thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

You need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion.
You can continue physiotherapist for rehabilitation.
Initially quadriceps strengthening and range of motion exercises are important later on against résistance theraband exercises.
Gradual walking and running later on and playing sports are last step of rehabilitation.
Do not run initially, gradual stair climbing and take precaution while squatting.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.
