Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query painful swelling in lower gums post a hit is due to blunt trauma to that particular tooth region. Need not to worry about it, its a natural reaction of body to hit. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene. Do brushing and flossing twice a day. Try sucking ice as it will act as cold compress. Use antiseptic mouth wash such as Listerine. Visit periodontist once and get it examined for gum inflammation and you can go for scaling and cleaning of that particular quadrant. It could be because of wisdom tooth eruption as well. Take anti inflammatory medications for that.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain swelling of gums around wisdom tooth post injury is Post Traumatic Inflammation leading to Pericoronitis..
You need not to worry your teeth will not fall out and you should consult a dentist and get evaluated..
For swelling and pain he can advise you to take anti-inflammatory painkillers like IBUPROFEN 400mg thrice daily..
For prevention of infection antibiotics like Amoxicillin can be advised..
Do cold packs over the swelling..
Do cold water gargles..
Take a soft diet..
Once swelling goes down slightly get a full mouth x-Ray done to rule out for any fractured teeth or bone and get treated accordingly...

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
